MONICA BHANDARKAR, Account Manager
A passionate strategist, Monica is driven by two things: developing stories and delivering statistics. She knows that making lasting connections is part creativity and part metrics—both of which are invaluable and inseparable.
With a 13-year career rooted in agency settings, Monica’s experience spans traditional PR/communications, social media and digital marketing. She lends this breadth of experience to Approach, providing strategic planning and counsel that integrates best practices across multiple channels.
Monica joined the Approach Marketing team as a consultant in 2017 and works with national and regional brands in the retail, food, fashion and professional services industries, providing marketing communications strategy and execution.
Based in Chicago, Monica also consults with local startups and small businesses in the areas of technology and creative services.
Prior to consulting, Monica was Vice President of Social Media at JSH&A Communications, leading social media, content marketing and influencer relations campaigns for clients like Con-Agra, Hershey’s and Dremel.
Previously, Monica was a Senior Account Supervisor at Zocalo Group where she developed and led strategic word-of-mouth and social media campaigns for Frito-Lay, SUBWAY and Supercuts.
Her work has earned her industry awards including a Silver Anvil “Award of Excellence” and multiple Publicity Club of Chicago and PRSA Chicago Skyline awards.
Monica holds a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
It has been my dream to publish a novel since I was little and dictated stories to my mom. (She wrote, I illustrated.) Getting wrapped up in narratives and exploring characters is a passion I bring to my work—from crafting a brand’s story to digging into audience insights.

Is all about data. With a Master’s degree in data analytics, she brings an analytical eye to campaign metrics and performance.
