Account Manager, Approach Marketing
Monica Bhandarkar began consulting with Approach Marketing in 2017 and works with national and regional brands in the retail and food industries providing public relations strategy and execution.
Based in Chicago, Monica also consults with local startups and small businesses in the areas of art, technology and creative services.
Monica has more than 11 years of public relations, marketing communications and social media experience in agency settings, and has worked with a variety of clients in the food and beverage, technology, home goods and real estate industries.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Monica was the Vice President of Social Media at JSH&A Communications. In this role, she provided strategic counsel and social media and influencer relations campaign management for the agency’s food and home improvement clients, including ConAgra’s Reddi-Wip, Manwich and Alexia Foods brands, as well as Dremel.
Previously, Monica was a Senior Account Supervisor at Zocalo Group where she developed and led strategic word-of-mouth and social media campaigns for Frito-Lay, SUBWAY and Supercuts.
Monica began her career at boutique public relations agencies in Chicago, including Taylor Johnson and Reputation Partners, where she provided traditional public relations and corporate communications support to clients in the real estate, personal banking and education industries.
Her work has earned her industry awards including a Silver Anvil “Award of Excellence” and multiple Publicity Club of Chicago and PRSA Chicago Skyline awards.
Monica graduated with a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
