Goldfish Swim School
Goldfish Swim School offers perpetual year-round swim lessons. Classes are offered mornings, evenings and weekends in a safe, kid-friendly and fun environment. The Goldfish team prides itself on teaching children ages four months to 12 years to swim in a unique, tropical setting with highly trained and certified instructors, small class sizes (max 4:1 student to teacher ratio), 90-degree pools and a state-of-the-art chlorine generation system. The swim school also offers weekly family swims and birthday party packages.
In 2014, Lisa Armitage, owner of Goldfish Swim School in Dublin turned to Approach to generate awareness about Goldfish and to position Lisa as a water safety expert in the local community. Approach developed a PR campaign aimed at Central Ohio media, bloggers, business organizations and influencers.
For the past eighteen months, Approach has secured a number of media opportunities for Lisa to talk about the importance of drowning prevention, with tools being water safety and equipment education and Goldfish swim lessons, and several strong TV segments have appeared across the Central Ohio networks and on local blogs.
Approach and Goldfish also saw an opportunity to address the important topic of year-round water safety. Lindsey Allen, a mom of a child who nearly drowned in a retention pond in January, credited swim lessons at Goldfish for saving her son’s life when he fell into the icy water. Approach secured an array of media opportunities for Lisa and Lindsey to talk about winter water safety tips and to share Lindsey’s story. Local TV stations and blogs shared the story and it generated a lot of positive feedback among the local community. Click on the icons below to view a sampling of coverage.
Approach has established ongoing partnerships with local bloggers who serve as ambassadors on behalf of Goldfish Swim School among their blog readers and social media followers. These influential bloggers have written about their families’ own experience at Goldfish Swim School, as well as relevant topics such as water safety (including Goldfish’s water safety day event), indoor activities for families and giving the gift of experience. From a business standpoint, Approach generated media coverage surrounding the new Goldfish Swim School opening in Westerville, and articles appeared in the Columbus Dispatch, ThisWeek Westerville, Macaroni Kid, Little Adventures Await and Hulafrog, among other pending coverage.
Approach pitched an interview and photo shoot with Columbus Business First for Lisa to talk about her transition from stay-at-home mom to business owner and that article appeared in December 2015. Approach has secured speaking opportunities for Lisa, including the Business First Mentorship Monday series for which Lisa was one of Central Ohio’s female business leaders who participated in the event.
